Young Citizen is a program geared towards helping local governments encourage youth to take part in local social actions. It also serves to facilitate middle schools and teachers conform with newly adopted guidelines requiring approximately 20% of the curriculum dedicated to civics to be in the form of students' projects. The Center for Civic Education has created three options to support local governments and their schools and teachers in conducting students' projects.

Option 1:
Student community projects within the framework of the KOSS (Kształcenie Obywatelskie w Szkole Samorządowej – Civic Education in Local Schools) teaching program.
In the new version of the KOSS program we show teachers how to teach civics at the middle school level while simultaneously conducting local social projects with their students. We have prepared both methodical and didactic aids, including scenarios for student projects, so as to make the teacher's work less complicated and the projects beneficial to the community. In addition, the KOSS program materials give students the opportunity to learn more about the workings and activities of their local governments.
Option 2:
Topical activities for student projects in their local communities.
There are alternatives to the KOSS program for getting middle school students involved in their local communities for civics projects. Our CEO program aids students and teachers in topical activities for the good of their communities. Some examples include Traces of the Past – students adopt a landmark or object of their local heritage, Active by Nature – youth ambassadors for local natural treasures, Young Entrepreneurs, Literary Atlas of Poland, Student government, @ctivist and Read to Me, My Friend.
Option 3:
Young Citizen of ..... (name of locality)
This is an individual program carrued out in cooperation with the CCE. Local governments which value civics education and involving their young residents in pursuits for the benefit of society can organize projects designed and structured to suit their local needs. The CCE suggests assistance in the form of the two-year program „Young Citizen of .......” which includes a wide range of support during its realization. This program contains activities included in the previous options enhanced with teacher training as well as including schools and students in CCE organized events.
