Righteous among us project

About the Program

The project is addressed to young people from Poland, Germany and Israel. They will work on a common international educational venture the aim of which is to understand and supply documentary evidence for the life stories of people awarded the title of “The Righteous Among Nations”.

Schools in the Project

Meled school of Jerusalem

Meled is a coeducational academically accredited high school for youth from religiously observant backgrounds who have failed or dropped out of the regular educational system.

In our school we do many educational project focused on history, tradition and culture. Two years ago we took a part in educational project about Righteous that’s why we decided to continue this purpose now

Ernst-Litfaß-Schule, Berlin, Germany

The Upper Secondary school centre for print and media engineering called Ernst-Litfaß-Schule is a vocational school for graphic business. At its vocational department, printers, media designers and bookbinders take vocational instruction.

I LO in Busko - Zdrój

Our proup is interested in other cultures which is proved by our participation in the project. Although we live in a rather small town - Busko-Zdrój (and nearby villages), we try not to be "blind" and "deaf" and to broaden our minds by reading and traveling.

Report from meeting in Warsaw

The second part of the Righteous Among Us project took place in Warsaw (19th – 25th of May). During the meetings young people, who had been working on commemorating Righteous and Survivors, participated in workshops, presentations and trips.

"Heroism"

During the lesson students realize that we all have impact on world we live. They ask themselves if everyone can be a hero.

Students learn what stereotypes are and when we use them. They discuss undesirable effects of stereotypes.

Multicultural education

When asked about multicultural education, we respond: Of course, we have been doing it for years. We organize school holidays devoted to different cultures, we prepare exhibitions of students’ works, we invite representatives of national or ethnic minorities. Great, but is it enough?
